On-prem, on your computer
The program works entirely on the computer it is installed on. The card files are not transferred anywhere, which is why there is no user account either.
The desktop program for macOS and Windows
SCERNETTA DDD is on-prem software. You install it on an ordinary workstation running macOS or Windows, open the .ddd files in it, read the analysis and export a report when you need one. There is no account to create. Card data never leaves the computer. The program connects to our server only to fetch the licence and to ask whether there is a newer version.

Every driver at once
Pick a folder with all card files, and the program writes a PDF and CSV report for every driver, filed by driver, year and month.

The most complete file per day
When downloads are merged, the file with the most complete record wins each day. Because a card stores many months, a single download almost always covers the whole month on its own. The source manifest names, for every day, the file the numbers came from.
Everything else
- Shifts and timesDriving, working time, availability and rest per day and per week, with the fortnight added because the regulation asks for it. Every shift is listed on its own, so you can look up where a total came from.
- Violations in two viewsIn the program you see violations in two views. The reference view calculates the way the established programs do and is the one in the report. The strict view sticks to the wording of the regulation as an on-screen cross-check, and where the two differ, you decide for yourself.
- ForecastsHow much driving time is left today, when the next rest has to begin at the latest and how much of the weekly driving time remains. Calculated only from the data in the files.
- Gaps without a cardIf the card was not inserted, it says “not assessable, card not inserted”. No violation is made out of it, but the gap stays visible because an inspection will ask about it.
- ReportsPDF and CSV with the reference view and the periods that are not assessable, optionally with a source manifest that names for every day which file the data came from. Months later you still know how a number came about.
- Every generationDriver cards and vehicle units of generation 1 and of generation 2 including version 2 are read.
- Legal basisThe program judges under EU law, meaning Regulation (EC) No 561/2006 and Directive 2002/15/EC, or, by setting, under the Swiss ARV 1 or ARV 2. Under a Swiss ordinance only the strict view exists, there is no reference view. The Swiss rules are checked against the ordinance text, not against Swiss driver data.
- Every download togetherA card file only covers the period that was still on the card at the time of the download. Scernetta brings all of a driver's downloads together, and across card renewals and years this builds one history.
Tools for daily operations
What comes up around the analysis, the program handles as well. Every tool works from the same files, so nobody has to feed a second system.
Driver lookup
The fines authority names a plate and a time and asks who was driving. You pick a whole folder and the program reads every file in it. Then you search for the plate and the time, or for a driver name, and it names the driver whose card was in the vehicle then.
Download deadlines
A fleet-wide overview shows the last download and the next due date for every driver card and vehicle. Where the download stamp is missing it says "not assessable" instead of an invented deadline.
Retention
The same overview exists for the archived downloads, measured against an adjustable period. It shows what still has to be kept and what has served its term.
Driver warning letter
From the strict violations the program builds a finished warning letter as a PDF, with your letterhead and your wording. A ledger remembers what has been warned, so no driver gets mail twice for the same incident.
Attestation of activities
For periods without a card the program pre-fills the EU form, one form per gap, with the period and the driver data from the card. The company states the reason, and both signatures are still made by hand.
Fine estimate
On request the program estimates a fine per violation from the public catalogue, separately for driver and company. These are guide values for orientation, off by default and no legal advice.
Authenticity check
Signatures and certificates of a file are verified offline against the European root certificates. The result says honestly whether something was verified, cannot be checked, or actually looks like tampering.
Multilingual interface
From the dashboard to the PDF report the program switches between several European languages, per workstation. The warning letter and the attestation stay German on purpose, as legal documents.

Switching from another program
Your .ddd files are the original files from the driver card and the vehicle. They are yours and are not tied to any program. Your archive from the past years is therefore a folder full of files, and Scernetta reads it as it is.
To switch, you select that folder, and that is all there is to it. Scernetta recognises for every file which driver it belongs to and assembles each driver’s history from them. If you want, it writes a sorted copy by driver and vehicle.
The same holds in the other direction. The files stay ordinary .ddd files in your own folders, there is no database and no proprietary format. If you ever leave Scernetta, you take your archive with you unchanged.
What Scernetta does not do
Without data there is no assessment, so there is no verdict either on periods when the card was not inserted. The program is no substitute for legal advice, and at an inspection the official records are always what counts.
There is also no cloud version that syncs data between computers. If you want to pass an analysis on, you export a report and send that.
What day-to-day operation looks like
There is no database. The data are the .ddd files and the exported reports in your own folders, and your normal file backup covers them. The program itself stores only its settings and the licence.
Several workstations need a licence each. A central server or any automation is the job of the container.
